You Are Worth It

Whenever you feel like you don’t have worth, remember your divine heritage.  You are a child of God.  He decided that the world needed one of you and He created you in His image.  You have worth because you are His child, just for being you!  And if that doesn’t convince you, remember all that His son, our Savior and Redeemer, has done for you.
He willingly gave His life for you.  He suffered and bled from every pore for you.  Jesus loves each and every one of us so much that He went through unimaginably agonizing pain so that we could be forgiven of and saved from (not in) our sins.  And He would’ve done it just for one person, just for you.  Can you even comprehend that someone loves you so much that they would suffer all of that for you, to save you?  And don’t forget the love that our Father in Heaven has to have for us to ask His beloved son go through so much pain for our sake.  How painful do you think it would be to watch your child suffer?  To have the power to help but know that you can’t.

I have no doubt in my mind that Heavenly Father wept as He watched His Only Begotten son suffer and die at the hands of wicked men, men who Jesus was dying for.  How gut wrenching it must have been for the Lord to have Jesus ask if the “cup could pass Him by” and to still ask Him to go through so much pain.  And how proud He must’ve felt to hear His son say “thy will be done” when He was told what He must do.

Christ is filled with so much love for us and His Father that He willingly gave everything for us and obediently did all that the Lord asked of Him.  Christ didn’t want to suffer through everything He did if He didn’t have too and He certainly had the power to deliver Himself.  But He was willing to do all that He did because of how much He loves us.

Don’t ever think that you are worthless!  Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have done, and continue to do, so much for you!  The world may tell you that you aren’t worth it, but your Father in Heaven and Savior tell a different story.  No matter how you are treated or what you go through on this earth, you have Heavenly parents and a Savior that loves you beyond your ability to comprehend.

Because of how loved we are, we never have to be alone.  We may feel lonely at times, but we are never truly alone.  The Lord can always be with us, we just have to let Him in.  Our Heavenly Father will never force Himself upon us.  He is always there, but we have to choose to “come unto Him.”  He gave us agency (the ability to choose) so that we would love Him not out of obligation but because we truly want and need Him in our lives.  I’m sure that losing some of His children is very hard for Heavenly Father to bear, but He will never force us to love Him.  And though we get to make our own choice, we don’t get to decide the consequences, so be thoughtful about what you choose.

I know that in the end, “if we choose Christ, we will have made the correct choice” (Thomas S Monson).  There is nothing that can make us happier in this life than living the gospel of Jesus Christ.  And though living the gospel doesn’t make for a trial free or easy life, I know from personal experience that it does make our lives better.  For me personally, life without Jesus is life without meaning.  I don’t know what I would do without the Lord and His gospel in my life.  I don’t know who I would be if I wasn’t living for Christ.  Life is hard enough, why make it harder by trying to do it all alone?

No matter what you are going through or what you have done, never forget that the King of all kings and creator of all things decided that you have worth.  You are royal sons and daughters of a Heavenly King.  You matter!!  And what you do matters!  And thanks to Christ, “no failure ever need be final” (Thomas S Monson).  Not only is Jesus your Savior and Redeemer, but He is also your brother and friend.  You never have to go through the trials of life alone.

If you feel like giving up, turn to the Lord.  He can help turn your trials into something good.  He turns weakness into strengths, hate into love, and despair into peace.  He is the calm and comfort in the storm.  And He loves you!  You are strong.  You are beautiful.  You are worth it.  Keep fighting.  Your story isn’t close to being over.
